Upon consumption, Huperzia Serrata releases the alkaloid Huperzine A into the body, which (after successfully flowing into the bloodstream and reaching the central nervous system) interacts with neuron receptor sites to act as a powerful inhibitor. It prevents an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase from limiting the amount of Acetylcholine that can be produced, a powerful neurotransmitter. This increases the likelihood for cognitive enhancements by boosting the rates at which neurons interact with one another. This supercharges the brain and leads to faster and more efficient states of long-term memory retention, recall, and nerve cell growth within the user. It also stimulates an enhanced learning capacity and concentration.
Although generally considered safe at recommended dosages, Huperzia Serrata still comes with a number of minor side effects. These include, but are not limited to: Skin rashes, stomach pains, and breathing issues. Note that these effects are usually only present when dosages have been abused.

The concentration of the ingredient Huperzine A is paramount when considering what dosages to take of this supplement. The recommended amount of Huperzine A to take per day can be summed up to 50 – 100 mcg, but that number can fluctuate depending on how the current amount affects the user. It is advised to not pass an amount of 200 mcg per day. In addition, Huperzine A can be stacked with other cholinergic supplements to achieve its best results.
